In memory of G. Raymond Chang

Ray ChangDr. G. Raymond Chang, O.C.
Director and Former Chairman and CEO, CI Financial

We are deeply saddened by the passing of an extraordinary person, business leader and philanthropist, our colleague and friend, Ray Chang. We send our condolences to his wife, Donette, his children, Andrew and Brigette, and his grandchildren, Savanna and Lucas.

Ray was important to CI’s success for three decades, helping to establish a culture of entrepreneurship and innovation, for which we are truly grateful. An essential member of the leadership team, Ray helped to guide CI as it went public in 1994 and through its tremendous growth in later years.

We also remember Ray as a thoughtful, humble man who took the time to encourage those around him and who strongly believed in giving back. He lent his considerable support to countless good works in the community and donated generously to many philanthropic causes in Canada and Jamaica. He deeply valued education, and was a passionate advocate of lifelong learning. His name on the G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education at Ryerson University is a fitting tribute.

Ray, we are honoured to have worked side by side with you for so many years. Your wisdom, grace and generosity will be remembered.
